As is always the case when high-end devices are about to get announced, the rumour mills are working non-stop to give us bits and pieces of what can be expected from these upcoming devices. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, we have gotten hold of the very first renders of both handsets that accurately show their respective designs.

The renders, revealed by @evleaks, appear to be press images (not fan-made renders) that may have come from the manufacturer itself. @evleaks has, in the past, accurately unveiled images of a lot of smartphones prior to their official announcements so we tend to believe that the said renders are legitimate.

We are not surprised to find that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are not too far off in terms of design and aesthetics when compared to last year’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Based on the renders, the Galaxy S7 may retain the 5.1-inch display of its predecessor but the S7 edge might feature a bigger 5.5-inch display.

Putting aside these minor changes, the upcoming Galaxy S7 series is expected to deliver significant improvements that include microSD card support, water-resistance, and larger, longer-lasting batteries. Under the hood, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are expected to be powered by either an Exynos 8890 or SnapDragon 820 processor, depending on the market. The handsets will also allegedly come with 4GB of RAM and 12MP rear shooters with larger sensors that will make them a whole lot better that the 16MP rear cameras of the S6 lineup.
